Joint press conference of Jeyhun Bayramov and Ayman Safadi

“The role of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Jordan in the development of bilateral relations, which have continued for many years, is crucial,” Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said during a joint press conference with Ayman Al Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Highlighting the latest round of political consultations between the two countries’ foreign ministries, Jeyhun Bayramov hailed the steady development of bilateral relations during his meeting with his Jordanian counterpart.

“A delegation comprising representatives of various Azerbaijani institutions will visit Jordan,” the minister underlined that holding business forums between the two countries could also be beneficial.

“The development of the tourism sector between our countries is important. Regular flights to Jordan began at the end of May. We also discussed increasing the number of these flights,” the Azerbaijani FM noted that fruitful cooperation within international and regional organizations was also discussed.

“Azerbaijan has special relations with the countries of Central Asia. As part of this cooperation, the importance of the Middle Corridor has increased significantly in recent years, creating attractive opportunities for Jordanian investors”. J.Bayramov noted that since August last year, the geography of Azerbaijan’s energy exports has expanded. “Thus, exports of energy resources from our country to Syria have begun. This creates new opportunities for cooperation and investment in supplies to a country neighboring Jordan.”

“There are regions around the world where instability persists. In this regard, Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad should take potential risks into account and, in the event of an emergency, follow the instructions and warnings issued by the official authorities of the country or territory in which they are staying”. According to the minister, in recent years, the whereabouts of nearly 600 Azerbaijani citizens who encountered such situations have been identified, and their return to the country has been ensured. “Work in this direction is ongoing,” he added.

The minister noted that Azerbaijani citizens are found to be participating in armed conflicts in various regions. “In some cases, individuals are drawn into such conflicts through various promises. We would like to remind everyone once again that participation in armed conflicts in foreign countries is contrary to Azerbaijani legislation. In some cases, such actions may even result in the deprivation of Azerbaijani citizenship.”

“The agreement signed between Azerbaijan and Jordan will positively contribute to the expansion of cooperation. Our relations in the fields of trade, investment, and tourism will develop further,” said Ayman Al Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, during a joint press conference with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov.

The Jordanian minister congratulated Azerbaijan on the agreement reached with Armenia. He stated that Jordan supports the document initialed between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

“Azerbaijan and Jordan will also cooperate in the field of mutual investment,” said Ayman Al Safadi. “We intend to strengthen our relations in this field as well,” he added.
